Interior designer Meredith Taylor cautions any lover of black windows to consider how the windows fair against other details of the home. “In many ways, black framed windows can be both timeless and a short-lived trend. When making any exterior design decisions, it’s best to consider the long-term effects, as these details aren’t as easily changed as interior elements like paint and decor. I think black framed windows look best when used on homes with some detail and character, such as stone, brick, or trim work. This allows the black to complement the design and not become the sole focal point. If a home lacks much detail, the black windows become the sole focal point and can be too stark of a contrast. This could lead to the home looking dated sooner than intended.”
