If space allows, you may consider designing your home with two ensuite bedrooms that can transition with you as your family grows and changes. That’s what fellow home designer Kersten did, sharing, “I would have one master upstairs and one downstairs. If the kids are young, sending the toddlers and little ones upstairs will be hard. We have a master upstairs and then made another one on the first floor for when we’re old.” A second ensuite also makes for a wonderful guest suite if you have frequent visitors or even need to bring an elderly parent into your home to live with you.
