Halloween is just around the corner, which means it’s time to start thinking about Halloween decorations! And lately, my mind has been wandering to Halloween wall decor specifically. I’ve been hoarding Halloween wall decor ideas on my Pinterest over the past year, and I can’t wait to see some of them in action!

There is just so much to love about this type of decor. First of all, Halloween wall decor is often flat or small, which means it’s simple to store. It is also easy to get eye-catching pieces for cheap with items like paper bats, spiderwebs, and printable Halloween art widely available. And then there is the fact that walls are the perfect canvas to add fun bits of movement with creatures like fluttering bats and scuttling spiders.

However, while all of those benefits are great, that’s not my favorite part about Halloween wall decor—my favorite part is the effect it has on the rest of my Halloween display. Using an item or two to extend your Halloween display up onto the wall can make it feel so much more impactful and expansive. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love when their decor efforts get noticed?

So whether you need new Halloween decor ideas or you’re like me and going a bit batty trying to narrow down your favorite display ideas, this collection will help. Filled with unique Halloween wall decor ideas, it has all the inspiration and know-how you need to give your walls a spooktacular Halloween makeover!

Pops of vibrant orange and dramatic black infuse this family room with some Halloween charm. The Magic of Wall Shelves

Halloween Wall Decor Ideas

Adding a few wall shelves to a room makes changing out your seasonal wall decor a cinch! You can simply sit items like wall art, frames, and wood signs on it instead of fumbling with screws and nails. This festive Farmhouse uses dark decor throughout to add some contrast and drama—including a wood Halloween sign to the shelf.

Fireplace Friends

Halloween Wall Decor Ideas

These bats clearly heard about this whimsical Halloween decor and wanted to fly in to be part of the fun! If you’re considering adding paper bats to the wall around your Halloween mantel decor, try placing them in a curved line—instead of a straight line. This will give the display a sense of movement and flow. Plus, it’s a great way to direct the eye in any direction you please. Worried about damaging your wall finish? Try using poster tape or wall gum.

Subtle Spook

Halloween Wall Decor Ideas

Try stringing some faux spiderwebs across existing wall decor for a subtle spooky effect, as this home did. To make it even more spooktastic or whimsical, you can also string in some fake spiders or other creepy crawlies. Prefer something more classy? Drape some torn, sheer fabric over the corner of a mirror or painting. Chiffon, cheesecloth, or burnt-out velvet works well for this task.

Playing the Blues

Halloween Wall Decor Ideas

Fabulous Halloween decor? Check! A Spooky Musician? Check! This looks like the place to throw a Halloween bash! Often when people think of Halloween wall decor, their mind pops over to decorations mounted on the wall, but nothing says that decor leaning against the wall doesn’t count, too! Plus, this method is also feasible for renters that can’t damage their walls. The top of this piano has been decorated with some old window frames draped in fabric, a wooden Halloween sign, candlesticks, and a murder of crows. It’s simple in both color and design, which ensures the blue piano doesn’t get overpowered.

A Well-Lit Witchy Display

Halloween Wall Decor Ideas

I have always had a soft spot for themed Halloween displays — and this wonderfully witchy one is no exception! Going with a decor theme can help keep your display looking cohesive and give you an idea of what kind of Halloween wall decor you’re looking for. This one effortlessly mixes new and vintage by layering a Halloween sign from Target on top of a vintage window. And I would be remiss not to mention the soft light flickering from the candles that infuse this display with even more character.

Witch Parking Only

Halloween Wall Decor Ideas

Witches can’t exactly park their rides in the driveway, but they can hang them on the wall! To toggle this wall decor toward whimsical, you could always add a sign that says “Witch Parking Only” or create your own colorful and glittery DIY witch broom.

Do Spiders Not Like Candy Corn?

Halloween Wall Decor Ideas

Here, a trail of spiders weaves behind a blanket ladder that holds a banner of candy corn. If I were them, I would have definitely stopped in for a snack! This is an excellent example of a Halloween display that will be easy to take down and toggle toward Thanksgiving.

DIY Family Halloween Portraits

Halloween Wall Decor Ideas

This spooky entryway is ready to greet guests! The gallery wall of old portraits is from Party City, but you can find vintage portraits at most places that sell Halloween decor. Better yet: make your own. Head to the flea market and thrift stores to hunt for old frames and old clothes, then get the whole family dressed up for picture day! Print the photos with a sepia or black and white filter and then place them in the frames. Voila! You have a unique Halloween portrait wall that doubles as a fun memory.

Everlasting Halloween Wall Decals

Halloween Wall Decor Ideas

A Halloween wall decal adds extra flair to this vintage Halloween display. Most decals are difficult to reapply after taking down, so consider taking down a large piece of art to hang a decal for the season. Then, once Halloween is over, put the painting back up to hide it. That way, next year your decal is ready to go!

Hanging Around

Halloween Wall Decor Ideas

Spiders hang from webs while pictures hang from rails in this spooky home. A picture hanging rail is an offbeat alternative to using shelves for pictures. Just like a shelf, you can easily move around frames and canvases without fumbling with nails or screws in the wall.

17 Vertical Tile Backsplash Ideas to Accent Your Space

Backsplash is one of the easiest ways to infuse character into the kitchen. There are various features to consider — from material to color, finish, and of course, pattern. Horizontal backsplash is perhaps the most common tile pattern, often seen with classic subway tiles or shiplap. Vertical backsplash, on the other hand, doesn’t tend to get as much love.

The style, however, has lots of benefits. The slimmer profile looks particularly striking and can create a unique statement, whether it’s glossy emerald tiles coating an entire wall or a satisfying neutral ombre effect above the stove. Not to mention, vertical tiles draw the eye upward for the illusion of a higher ceiling. This can make a space feel more open and spacious. You can even customize the color of your grout to make the tiles pop — or feel more subtle. Curious how it looks? Check out these vertical backsplash ideas for inspiration.
